Freddie Mac recently released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market survey showing mortgage rates easing to new all-time record lows for all products covered in the survey, helping to keep homebuyer affordability high. The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortage fell to a record low of 3.89% for the week ending January 12, down from the previous week when it averaged 3.91%. An insurance company obtains a CLUE report when evaluating an application for insurance. The report contains information about the claims history of the property. I
It is best to speak with an insurance agent with respect to how the information in a particular CLUE report affects the affordability and availability of insurance.
A property owner may, for a fee, obtain the CLUE report on his or her property through companies such as ChoicePoint, Inc. (www.choicepoint.com or www.choicetrust.com), A-Plus (800-709-8842) or other companies, most of whose services are accessible via the Internet. An owner may also contact the Equifax Insurance Consumer Center at 800-456-6004.
